George Winters
Hello Biff
Brothers, with a heavy heart we are sad to announce the passing George Winters.
George passed away at the age of 81 on Dec 26th at home with his
family close by. George was a long time Biff Brother for over 25 years. This
past year George made it to the Mission despite having gone through heart
surgery just a few months prior. During that healing period George had a tough
time, but he told us several times that he was going to make to the Mission and
nothing would stop him. Not surprising he made it, felt good and a had a great
time. At one point it was 11 O’clock PM, I looked over at the bar and there was
George bullshitting, telling jokes and giving his best Senior Advisement to the
some of the newbies. He hollered over to me, “heck I am going to keep up with
the Biffster’s this year”. We will never forget that memory and it will always
warm my hearts.
Over the 25+ years, George has seen a lot of crazy stuff on the Mission, like
the very loud music all day and night, but he always sucked it up. He set the
bar for others to follow. George and his crew always stayed until Monday. We
have had some great Sunday evenings together. During this time , Steve and I are
always are seeking some “Senior Advisement” from him asking how he thought the
Mission went that year, he would always say “Perfect”, don’t change a thing!
A few days after the Mission last year he had a surgery with his lungs. He had
real tough time and never was able to recover. He was a fighter to the end. He
was home from the hospital to spend his last Christmas with wife of 58 years
Maryanne and family. George was very proud to have 3 generations at the
Mission. He cherished the time at the Mission with his Son In Law John Duke, Son
Rich and his Grandson Drew. Please reach out to these guys and show them how
much you cared about George.
