Back to Never Forgoten Biff Brothers

Mike Zdunich

Mike Zdunich passed away at home peacefully in November 2015 at the age of 89.

Mike began coming on the Mission in 1996. He attended the Mission with his son Marty until 2005.

Mike continued supporting the Mission through 2013 by donating to the hardship fund and buying a shirt each year, keeping his wardrobe in style!

Most of these years Mike would come for a day to the Mission to say hi to his buddies.

Mike was gym teacher and retired from Louis Pasture grade school in Orangevale. It’s funny how many people I know that had him as a teacher.

Steve Kovach, Mark Miller and myself met Mike in late 80’s while bowling in a league at Crestview Lanes in Carmichael.

We shared many great matches against Mr Z and his band of retired teachers.

He always was first to Hi-five us or congratulate us or say “take that kid”! I will always cherish those memories.

Through the years Mike was curious about the Mission while listening to our excitement as we planned another Mission.

Then it happened, he asked if he could go. I was shocked,

I said Mike, there is a lot of crazy stuff on the Mission. He laughed and said that he could handle anything we had to offer.

Off to the Mission he went with Marty at the young age of 70. Hang he did, through the loud music and rain. He always told us he had a great time and see you next year!

In the last few years we hadn’t heard from Mike. A couple of months ago Steve and I stopped by to say hello and drop off a couple shirts he hadn't been able to pick up. He was not doing well physically.

He was happy to see us but had difficulty communicating. We knew he did not have long. Our hearts and prayers go out to Marty and the Zdunich family.

RIP my Brother.
