Back to Never Forgoten Biff Brothers
Rudy Lucero
Rudy ‘The Big Bobber” Lucero
passed away from cancer in October 2015. Rudy was diagnosed just a few weeks
before and the lord took him home swiftly without prolonged suffering. Rudy was
only 51 but he lived life to the fullest always greeting you with that genuine
Big Bobber smile. All losses to our family are difficult, but this is a hard one
to take for many of us.
Rudy was a 15-year Biff Brother
and he really helped everyone of you who went on the mission. Rudy was the
cornerstone to the Missions breakfasts. Yes, he was the one that got up early,
not to fish but rather fire up the grills to whip up a batch of eggs, bacon or
gravy to assure everyone had a good meal to start the day. It’s no secret that
the Big Bobber loved to hang around the kitchen to sample the food, making sure
it was safe for his fellow brothers to eat! More than anything he was there to
say good morning to you all with a smile!
Rudy loved to catfish, his late night trips back to RF cove were and will always
be part of the Mission tales! He was no slouch as a fisherman either. In 2013 he
won the first Grand Slam fishing category. Something he was very proud of. Many
times through the years he was on the top of the catfish weigh in board, giving
a challenge to all of his competitors. You always knew that Rudy was the one
that could knock you out of the winnings!
In 2014 Rudy was able to have his son Sam join him on the Mission. How cool is
that! He was very happy to have shared in the Missions traditions, but mostly
enjoy some father son time together.
Rudy is survived by his son, two daughters and four grand kids. With a very sad
heavy heart, cheers to the Big Bobber!
